While addressing a meeting of the St. Croix Democratic Party, Democratic Candidate for Governor Allison “Allie” Petrus recently discussed the overall finances of the Virgin Islands and called out the Mapp Administration for its lack of responsibility, non-transparency, and poor management of the people’s finances, which led to the unprecedented move of the Virgin Islands being removed from national credit rating agencies.

Petrus highlighted the fact that due to the Mapp Administration’s actions and mismanagement of our government’s finances, the U.S. Virgin Islands were down to less than three (3) days of “Cash on Hand” before our territory was struck by Hurricane’s Irma and Maria.

Petrus concluded by correctly pointing out that with the federal dollars that are now coming in to re-build our islands, Virgin Islanders need to ask themselves “Who is the Best Team to Manage our Federal Relief Dollars AND Who is the Best Team to re-build our local economy?” Do we want four more years of failure or do we want to get back to a Government that Works for YOU!
